About Caitlin Palmer
Caitlin Palmer is a high school English teacher in the Academy for Science and Innovation at Austin High School. She has eight years of teaching experience in the Austin area, including positions at Dripping Springs High School and LASA High School. She has a B.A. in English and French with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
Since 2015, Caitlin has served as a Teacher Consultant with the Heart of Texas Writing Project, where she collaborates with English teachers in the Austin area to lead and participate in seminars that seek to empower students through literacy and the writing process. She also develops literacy-based College and Career Readiness curriculum for UTPREP, a STEM camp for middle and high school students through the UTeach Outreach program at The University of Texas at Austin. She also studied non-violent literacy practices during a summer-long teacher-immersion study in India in 2017. Caitlin is committed to teaching writing as a practice of self-discovery, effective communication, and creating meaningful change in the lives of individuals and communities.
You can find Caitlin cooking vegetarian meals, walking around Lady Bird Lake, and singing in a Paul Simon cover band when she is not devoting herself to the teaching of writing.
